The Golden Rule
"St. Mike's did a lot for me. And, it was more than just the academics," Tim says. "It taught me to be independent and be on my own. It was the holistic experience. This was just as important to me as the academics."
"My time on campus taught me how to be a good person and to treat people the way you want to be treated. St. Mike's taught me loyalty, integrity and the right way to live."
Both Tim and his wife, Jackie, support the College in different ways, including hosting alumni events and naming St. Mike's in their family trust. When asked why they chose St. Mike's, Tim mentions: "There are many good causes out there that need our help philanthropically, but we chose St. Mike's after we got involved with the student veterans initiative on campus. Jackie and I are committed to helping veterans and celebrating their service to our country.
"St. Mike's is a special place to me, and I've found it holds a special place in people's hearts. What makes St. Mike's special is our heritage of spirituality and the Edmundites, the small community and the traditions of family values. The core values of St. Mike's is what makes it different. I want those values to continue for today's students as it was decades ago for us."
After Tim graduated from Saint Michael's College, he found success in the insurance industry. His advice for new students and what he tells anyone is "never judge a book by its cover."
Tim reflects that "I ended up being friendly and close with people and would've had a different perspective of them had I not gotten to know them."
He says he's about elevating people and the College. "I don't understand why there's a small percentage that give to any school, especially St. Mike's. The College did way more for me than I can ever do for St. Mike's. I'm convinced that my time there made me who I am today and is a part of my success. Jackie and I can't think of a better place to spend our time, talent and treasure."
